Students who acquire large debts putting themselves through school are unlikely to think about changing society. When you trap people in a system of debt they can’t afford the time to think. Tuition fee increases are a “disciplinary technique,” and, by the time students graduate, they are not only loaded with debt, but have also internalized the “disciplinarian culture.” This makes them efficient components of the consumer economy.

I got an email today from StudentDebtCrisis.org asking people with student debt to take a survey about their experience paying off their loans and dealing with lenders. They’re going to present their findings to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, so if you’re one of the millions of college grads suffering under a mountain of debt, you should definitely fill it out.

This is a summary of college only using two pictures; expensive as hell.

That’s my Sociology “book”. In fact what it is is a piece of paper with codes written on it to allow me to access an electronic version of a book. I was told by my professor that I could not buy any other paperback version, or use another code, so I was left with no option other than buying a piece of paper for over $200. Best part about all this is my professor wrote the books; there’s something hilariously sadistic about that. So I pretty much doled out $200 for a current edition of an online textbook that is no different than an older, paperback edition of the same book for $5; yeah, I checked. My mistake for listening to my professor.

This is why we download.

college students, Bigwords.com is a conventient sort of search site that rifles through all sorts of online stores and ads looking for the text books you need, newest edition, you can look specifically for used books or ones with a buyback program, and stuff. and can be a lot cheaper, saved me $400 one semester

Can we amplify this a little please? I’m sure some of my followers could use this resource. Spread it around friends.

that special feeling you get during professor evaluation time

Signed up for a tutor today and lady says the max time is an hour

As though I actually wanted more than another hour of my day talking about a class I’m failing

sorry follower(s) who unfollowed; i’m all half-active now. s’what happens when you go to college — life comes out of nowhere and finds you.

for those who still go here, don’t expect too much activity. like i said, i’m a student now; have other obligations besides tumblr, so if you need to unfollow, that’s cool

my roommate just snapped on me…so that means i’m free to go off on her now for everything she’s done, right?

so excited.
